Viera Burłak is a Belarusian writer and translator. She was born in 1977 in Kyiv. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University.

Author of the poetry books “За здаровы лад жыцьця” (“For a healthy way of life”, 2003), “Забі ў сабе Сакрата” (“Kill Socrates in yourself”, together with Viktar Žybul, 2008), “Дзеці і здані” (“Children and ghosts”, 2012), “Rękę do nogi” (“Hand to Foot”, 2013, with a translation to Polish by A. Pomorski and K. Kwiatkowska), prose book “Творы соннага жанру” (“Texts in the dream genre”, 2011), book of children’s verses “Фантазюркі” (“Little fantasies”, 2018). 

Translates fiction from English, Ukrainian and Russian languages ​​(Lewis Carroll “Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There”, 2017: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, 2023, etc.).

Participant of the following artistic and literary projects: “Сувязь­ разрыў” (“Connection-rupture”, Ukraine – Belarus, 2004), “Парадак слоў” (“Order of Words”, Minsk, 2006, 2007), “Belarusian Literary Tour to Lapland” (Sweden, 2011), “International Women’s Slam” within “Вершы на асфальце” festival (Minsk, 2012), “The Third Czeslaw Milosz Literary Festival” (Krakow, 2013), “Literary Journey to the Arctic” (Sweden – Norway, 2013), “Poetry Affairs” project within the “Eclat” festival (Stuttgart, 2023, 2024) and others.

Winner of the Carlos Sherman prize for the best translation (2017), Ciotka prize for the best children’s book (2018).
