Barys Štern was born in Minsk. His first poem appeared in the newspaper Такое жыццё-2 in the early 1990s. He worked for Belarusian radio and TV. His texts were published in the almanac Монолог (Monologue). He played in such Minsk-based bands as D.P.S., The Laboratory, Каратэ, and Ліберзон і Штэрн. He participated in the international musical project To be Listened to with Headphones. He co-wrote the texts for such bands as J:Mors, Пані-хіда, and N.O.I.R. He takes part in the Brilliantos project.
Since 2003, Štern has lived in Israel, where he works for Channel 9 on TV.
