<p class="p1"><strong>Viera Burłak</strong> is a Belarusian writer and translator. She was born in 1977 in Kyiv. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University.</p>
<p class="p1">Author of the poetry books &#8220;За здаровы лад жыцьця&#8221; (&#8220;For a healthy way of life&#8221;, 2003), &#8220;Забі ў сабе Сакрата&#8221; (&#8220;Kill Socrates in yourself&#8221;, together with Viktar Žybul, 2008), &#8220;Дзеці і здані&#8221; (&#8220;Children and ghosts&#8221;, 2012), &#8220;Rękę do nogi&#8221; (&#8220;Hand to Foot&#8221;, 2013, with a translation to Polish by A. Pomorski and K. Kwiatkowska), prose book &#8220;Творы соннага жанру&#8221; (&#8220;Texts in the dream genre&#8221;, 2011), book of children&#8217;s verses &#8220;Фантазюркі&#8221; (&#8220;Little fantasies&#8221;, 2018).<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Translates fiction from English, Ukrainian and Russian languages ​​(Lewis Carroll &#8220;Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There&#8221;, 2017: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle &#8220;The Hound of the Baskervilles&#8221;, 2023, etc.).</p>
<p class="p1">Participant of the following artistic and literary projects: &#8220;Сувязь­ разрыў&#8221; (&#8220;Connection-rupture&#8221;, Ukraine &#8211; Belarus, 2004), &#8220;Парадак слоў&#8221; (&#8220;Order of Words&#8221;, Minsk, 2006, 2007), &#8220;Belarusian Literary Tour to Lapland&#8221; (Sweden, 2011), &#8220;International Women&#8217;s Slam&#8221; within &#8220;Вершы на асфальце&#8221; festival (Minsk, 2012), &#8220;The Third Czeslaw Milosz Literary Festival&#8221; (Krakow, 2013), &#8220;Literary Journey to the Arctic&#8221; (Sweden &#8211; Norway, 2013), &#8220;Poetry Affairs&#8221; project within the &#8220;Eclat&#8221; festival (Stuttgart, 2023, 2024) and others.</p>
<p class="p1">Winner of the Carlos Sherman prize for the best translation (2017), Ciotka prize for the best children&#8217;s book (2018).</p>
