Volha Hronskaja is a poet, translator, literary scholar and language enthusiast. She writes in Belarusian, translates from German, and thinks in different languages.

Volha was born in 1978 near Miadzieł, Belarus. Since then, she has been playing with words and meanings all her life. However, she does not share the results of this play in print all that often.

Volha is the author of one book of poetry (“АдВольная міфалогія”, “Arbitrary mythology”, 2013), as well as of five books of translations. She is the winner of the “Golden Apostrophe” Award and the Carlos Sherman Award. She lives in Minsk.

This is Volha’s third book of poetry, although her second is going to be published a bit later. Sometimes the difference in poetic voice is more important that the date of birth. Most of this book’s trees and lines were created this year, in Berlin and Minsk, while some birds flew in from previous years.
